企画概要：
今回のイベントは、１９８０年代に米国で建築教育を受けた日本人と米国人のコラボレーションで成り立っているライザー＋ウメモト設計事務所の30年にわたる彼らの活動やプロジェクト作品をまとめた書籍の紹介。
そして、かれらと同じように両国の建築文化における理論とデザインに精通している日本人建築家である坂茂氏との対談イベント。坂はニューヨークのクーパー・ユニオンでのジェシー・ライザーと梅本奈々子との同級生です。坂は卒業後日本に帰国し、梅本は米国にそのまま留まり活動しています。
本イベントでは、書籍をベースとしてライザー＋ウメモトが「当時とそれから」というテーマのもとに彼らの作品や思想の変遷をプレゼンテーションした後に、小渕祐介による司会で、ライザー、梅本、坂によるインフォーマルな鼎談を行います。（小渕祐介）

Planning Summary：
Beyond the account and projects of a thirty-year collaboration between Reiser + Umemoto this book provides multiple perspectives on the architectural culture of a generation of architects, historians, theorists, and critics through selected contemporaneous writings to the projects shown. ‘Projects’ also strives to deliver a frank picture of the struggles, successes and failures, of maintaining a speculative practice in an increasingly normative field.
As our collaboration involves a Japanese and an American architect educated in the states we propose a dialogue with a Japanese architect similarly familiar with the respective cultures of theory and design in both countries. Shigeru Ban, a classmate at Cooper Union would be a wonderful choice. Shigeru returned to Japan, Nanako remained in the states. Format will be a concise PowerPoint by R+U, based on the book, structured on a ‘then and now’ theme foregrounding the similarities and the differences of the work and ideas motivating the architects over time.
